(3) Distribution Boards and Socket Outlets

Distribution Boards should be arranged for inspection and repaired by a registered electrical contractor if current leakage or tripping occurs frequently.

2.Socket Outlets:
  • An electrical appliance with high power consumption should receive power supply from a single socket outlet.
  • Total power consumption of the electrical appliances connected to the same 13A socket outlet should not, in general, exceed 2400W.
  • Circuits for socket outlets must be protected by a residual current device (RCD) (also called “earth leakage circuit breaker (ELCB)”).
